The coaches put the players through a standard pro-style practice that lasted for about two hours. Position players took fielding practice and hit while the pitchers threw and ran. After that, the pitchers performed pitcher’s fielding practice (PFPs) to get into the routine of covering first with ground balls hit to the right side. We also practiced fielding bunts, making throws to first and third and turning double plays to second. It was a productive practice and insightful to see how a professional practice is run.
Once practice was over, the players hit the weight room to lift weights and stretch. The workout facility is located inside the stadium and equipped with dumbbells, Olympic-style weights and a few treadmills and bikes. The coaches were able to show us some position-specific workouts.
